What is the Royal Edinburgh Card?

It's a digital pass from Edinburgh Bus Tours that gives you access to 4 of Edinburgh's most popular attractions.

On the one hand, you have the royal-related attractions (hence the name, Royal Edinburgh): Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace and the Royal Yacht Britannia.

On the other hand, it also includes the Edinburgh sightseeing bus to take you between attractions and to visit the rest of the city.

How do I receive and activate the pass?

Buy the Royal Edinburgh Card online and you will receive a confirmation email.

Once in Edinburgh, you'll need to go in person to the first stop on the Edinburgh Bus Tours route, which is right in the centre (19 Waterloo Pl, Edinburgh EH1 3BG). Check the opening hours on the website.

There, you will have to show your email address in order to activate your pass and get your paper tickets.

You will also be allocated a time and day of your choice to visit Edinburgh Castle.

How valid is the pass?

Once activated in person in Edinburgh, the Royal Edinburgh Card is valid for 48 consecutive hours.

Remember to check the opening times of the attractions (they change depending on the time of year) to help you organise yourself better.

Do I have to book the attractions in advance?

No, you just need to book an appointment for Edinburgh Castle.

When you go in person to the first Edinburgh Bus Tours stop, you will be allocated the day and time of your choice within 48 hours of your ticket being valid.

Although tickets are sold out for this time slot on the Edinburgh Castle website, they are always available for Royal Edinburgh Card holders.

Can I visit the attractions more than once?

You can visit each place only once, except for the tourist bus: hop on and off as many times as you like during the 48 hours!

Where can I buy the Royal Edinburgh Card?

You can buy it on the Edinburgh Bus Tours website and from platforms such as Tiqetswith whom we work.

You will need to know the date of your trip and the number of people who need a pass.
